The Brazztet is a
new band to our area which features a horn
section of trumpet, alto sax, tenor sax and
trombone plus piano, bass, guitar, drums and
vocals. The sound of the band calls to mind the
great big bands of Benny Goodman, the
Dorsey Brothers, Woody Herman, Glenn Miller and
others of that era.
The band also plays Swing, Jazz, 1950s and
1960's Rock and Roll and Pop songs, Dixieland,
Broadway show tunes and any special requests made
ahead of time. Songs of other great horn bands
such as Louis Armstrong and Chicago are also
featured.
Anyone familiar with some of the more notable
jazz and dance musicians from this part of the
state will recognize the names of Will Gilchrist,
Dave Dekoff, Greg Langdon, Bill Pomares, Adam
Mish, Dan Martin, Skip West, Tim Iversen, Vicky
Rickard, Tom Ives, Will Fredette, Al Colone,
Kevin Corkery and many others who will be
appearing with the band.
Here is a very brief set list which
gives a good idea of the kind of variety the
Brazztet will play during a show: What A
Wonderful World, Shake Rattle and Roll, My Funny
Valentine, Hello Dolly, The Midnight Hour, Route
66, Misty, 25 or 6 to 4, In the Mood, When the
Saints Go Marching In.
With this type of variety, and the fact that Skip
will meet with party planners to provide exactly
the right songs for any special occasion, the
Brazztet will be making music lovers happy for a
long time to come. |
